The Furry Pink Monkey Blog
Car boots, charity shops, and the weird and wonderful stuff that pays the bills.
Welcome to the FPM blog — the bit of the website where I actually tell you what goes on behind the listings. I'm Lee. I run Furry Pink Monkey out of Brighton, and the whole thing started with twenty quid at the Shoreham Flyover boot sale. These days it's a proper little business: sourcing across Sussex, photographing and listing collectibles, and trying very hard not to let the conservatory, the garage, and a cupboard in the kids' room disappear under a mountain of stock. (They have disappeared under a mountain of stock. We don't talk about the conservatory.) This blog is where I share the lot — the finds, the flops, the actual numbers, and everything I've learned the messy way so you don't have to.
You'll find the finds here — the 50p car boot grab that turned out to be worth a small fortune, and the "this is definitely valuable" pickup that absolutely wasn't. I show you both, because reselling content that only ever shows the wins is lying to you. There's the how-to as well: sourcing tips, listing tactics, photography that doesn't look like a ransom note, pricing, postage, fees — the practical stuff that actually moves items. If I've worked it out, I'll pass it on. Then there are the collectibles deep-dives, where I get properly nerdy about the niches I sell in — Disney trading pins, vintage magazines, Star Wars bits, football programmes, trading cards, View-Masters, VHS — so you can spot the good stuff in the wild too. And running underneath all of it is the honest business diary: real talk about running a one-man (plus Tina on packaging — hi Tina) reselling operation. The wins, the backlog, the days it all goes sideways. No gurus, no "make £10k a month from your sofa" nonsense. Just what's actually working and what isn't.
Whether you're a seasoned reseller, someone eyeing up their first boot sale, or you just like a good "you'll never guess what I found" story — pull up a chair. You don't need to be in the trade to enjoy it. You just need a soft spot for other people's old tat and the thrill of the hunt. So have a scroll through the latest posts below. If something sparks an idea, nicks a tip, or makes you laugh on your tea break, that's a win in my book. And if you want the finds as they happen, you'll catch most of it over on the FPM eBay store and across our socials too. See you in the comments.
